Cannabidiol, which is commonly called CBD, is a phytocannabinoid extracted from hemp plant. There is a reason why only the hemp plant, which is renowned for belonging to the marijuana species, is used to extract CBD. It contains very less amount of THC- the chemical that gets a person high- when compared to other plants from the same species because of which it was made legal in 2018 in the US. Moreover, it is a reservoir of CBD, making it a needed medicinal plant.

Even though very few studies have been done on CBD, its ability to reduce pain and anxiety was said to help treat insomnia. Research conducted on the effect of CBD on sleep and anxiety proved our doubts true. The study included 47 people experiencing anxiety and 25 with poor sleep who were given 25 milligrams of CBD each for a month. The results were encouraging- 79.2% of them reported reduced anxiety and 66.7% reported better sleep.
Studies also proved that CBD helps soothe the pain. In 2018, Frontiers in Pharmacology came forth with evidence proving that chronic pain can be reduced by CBD. Using CBD oil for pain relief is becoming common now.
Similarly, a research conducted on four people suffering from Parkinson’s showed that CBD improved the symptoms of REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) which causes nightmares and poor sleep. A 2017 review also reaffirmed that CBD can treat RBD and it could be possibly used to cure daytime sleepiness.
